Serifian frog

It is said that when Perseus lay down to rest, tormented by his adventure with Medusa, the noise that made the frogs of the island disturbed him and asked Zeus to take their voice. This is a version of the expression “Serifian frog” or “frog of Serifos” – a famous proverb of Greek antiquity used to describe a foolish person without rhetorical ability.

Symbols of Perseus, Medusa and frog meet in ancient coins of the 6th century BC. century, linking mythology to the history of Serifos with material substance.
